Officer In Charge of Indooroopilly Police Station Senior Sergeant Shane Hancock farewelling Sergeant Dan Moore
On Monday, September 17, the Inner West Police District bid farewell to one their finest, with the retirement of Sergeant Dan Moore on his 60th birthday.
Sergeant Moore officially retired on Sunday, after serving faithfully and honourably for 42 years and 8 months with the Queensland Police Service.
Sergeant Moore served with the QPS from January 1976 to September 2018, and served at the following police establishments during his policing career:

Commonwealth Games Group

During his career Sergeant Moore was an active member of the Queensland Police Bowls Club.
Sergeant Moore successfully represented the QPS in the Australian Police Games, winning medals in both singles and pairs events, and also in the Australasian Police Games.
In his last two years of service Sergeant Moore was attached to the Commonwealth Games Group, wasthe Logistics Supply Officer, where he was responsible

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Financial and Cyber Crime Group have charged a man following a protracted investigation into alleged card skimming offences.
As part of Operation Quebec Olympic it will be alleged the 31-year-old Brazilian born French national currently in Australia on a student visa attached deep insert skimming devices to Automatic Teller Machines (ATMs) across Brisbane.
The man was arrested on July 12 this year after detectives executed a search warrant on a Leichhardt Street address in Spring Hill where it will be alleged they located $22,100 in cash, laptops and hard drive, five ATM deep insert skimming devices, two false ATM ceiling panels with attached pin hole cameras and associated electronics including SD cards and batteries.
It will further be alleged an electronic card reader and writer, numerous blank iTunes cards and gift cards, bag of tools and electronic equipment associated with card skimming were also located.

Inner West police and their Neighbourhood Watch Group members give 30 years of NHWQ a big thumbs up!
2018 marks 30 Years of Neighbourhood Watch Queensland (NHWQ), an organisation which plays a vital role in linking the police and the community together, and contributing to keeping Queensland safe.
The Inner West Police District currently has 16 active Neighbourhood Watch groups established throughout the Ferny Grove, The Gap and Indooroopilly Police Divisions.
On Saturday September 15, Police Officers from the Inner West Crime Prevention Unit along with members from their respective Inner West NHWQ groups gathered together to celebrate the 30th anniversary of NHWQ at the Walton Bridge Reserve, The Gap.
The gathering provided the opportunity for Inner West Police to acknowledge and thank their respective Neighbourhood Watch group members for their continual enthusiasm, dedication and contribution to the program.
The gathering also provided an opportunity for those attending to personally meet other Inner West NHWQ members, share ideas and establish networks.

Police from the Inner West Patrol Group are conducting a series of  partnership operations with Road Policing Command, SPER and Transport and Main Roads Inspectors to target drink and drug driving and defective vehicle offences.
The aim of these coordinated operations is to reduce road trauma due to traffic crashes caused by driver behaviours or faulty motor vehicles.
The targeting of locations is Intelligence-based and is shown to be effective, as police are removing a number of drug drivers.
Removing drug drivers from our suburban streets is especially important, as this is certainly something that benefits everyone’s safety.
If people drive with illegal substances in their system, police will locate these offenders and they will face consequences.
On Wednesday September 12, a successful 3 hour traffic operation was conducted within the Ferny Grove Police Division.

Detectives have made significant arrests as part of a four-month operation targeting the distribution of methylamphetamine (ICE) and other drugs by a syndicate across Brisbane.
Between May 23 and September 1, police from the Brisbane City Criminal Investigation Branch conducted Operation Kinetic, culminating in a total arrest of 28 persons on 164 charges, including three offences of trafficking.
Approximately 1kg of ICE was allegedly seized along with a large quantity of dangerous drugs located during the operation.
Cash and property was also seized totalling around $270,220, including a stolen Mercedes and Audi.
Notably, eight firearms including shotguns, numerous handguns and a conducted electrical weapon, as well as a sword and knife were seized.
Two 33-year-old men from East Brisbane and a 30-year-old man from Fitzgibbon will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court later this month charged with multiple offences.

Police from the Inner West Patrol Group are warning vehicle and motorcycle owners and drivers that within the past 8 days, thieves have targeted numerous vehicles and motorcycles in the following Inner West locations.
Theft of motor vehicles/motorcycles: St Lucia, Ferny Grove, Mitchelton, Samford Valley, Ashgrove and The Gap.
Steal from motor vehicles: Taringa, The Gap, Everton Hills, Ashgrove, Everton Park and Kenmore.
The targeted vehicles and motorcycles had either been stolen or physically broken into both during the day and night.
The targeted locations have included residential garages, communal underground carparks, driveways, carports and vehicles parked on the street or in railway station car parks.
Several of the vehicles were stolen as a result of their respective keys being located in residential dwellings during break and enter offences.
The offender/s  then used these keys to drive away the vehicle from the residential address.
Additionally, a number of the vehicles broken into had valuable items in full view or that had been left insecure

Police have declared a crime scene at Kangaroo Point cliffs after a member of the public located what are believed to human remains around 10am today.
An investigation has been commenced to establish the identity of those remains.
There is no further information at this stage.

On September 5, Senior Constables Louise Child and Lucinda (Lou) Smyth from the Indooroopilly Police Station, were recognised for their actions saving the life of a woman at Mt Coot-tha in August.
On August 24, Senior Constables Child and Smyth located a woman unconscious within a locked vehicle whilst patrolling Mt Coot-tha.
The officers removed the woman from the vehicle and immediately commenced CPR, until she was able to be revived.
They then maintained first aid on the woman until the arrival of paramedics.
Both officers received an official letter of acknowledgement from Superintendent Mark Reid, Assistant District Officer Patrol Services, North Brisbane.
In his letter of acknowledgement, Superintendent Reid praised the actions of the two officers.
“You were able to acknowledge the urgency of the situation and reacted promptly and appropriately,”  Superintendent Reid said.
“Further your ability to make clear and decisive decisions whilst under pressure, was commendable.”
The letter also acknowledged these actions had quite possibly saved
