Theives targeting vehicles
Police are warning vehicle owners that within the past couple of days, thieves have targeted several vehicles in the following streets:
Macquarie Street, Saint Lucia
Grimes Street, Auchenflower
Campbell Street, Toowong
The targeted vehicles were broken into during both the day and night.
At the time of the offences, the vehicles were located in underground garages, carparks or carports associated with residential unit blocks.
The offenders have used forceful means such as smashing windows or prying open doors to unlawfully enter the vehicles and steal property from within.
Police are urging vehicle owners to be vigilant and ensure their vehicles are always secure and not to openly display valuable items in their vehicles.
There are several things you can do to reduce the risk of having your vehicle broken into:
Always lock your vehicle, including your glove box
Remove valuable items
Park your vehicle in a well lit area
When parking in a garage or carport, ensure both the garage and your
Ashgrove crime wrap, June 27
Police from the Inner West Patrol Group (IWPG) are advising residents of Ashgrove that within the recent weeks, thieves have been targeting vehicles and homes in the Inner West areas.
Disturbingly, in a large number of cases the vehicles and homes are reported to be unsecured.
Experience shows that if you make it easy for opportunistic criminals by not locking up, they have a tendency to return and also pass this information onto associates.

Police have found that thieves are stealing car keys and then vehicles, laptops, wallets, handbags and jewellery from within.
We are asking residents to be vigilant and secure their homes and vehicles, record details of electronic equipment and photograph valuable items such as jewellery.
Police continue to focus patrols in order to reduce these types of offences.

My Story: Sergeant Billy Li, Cultural Advisory Officer
Think policing is all car chases, blaring sirens and handcuffing perps? Think again!

Sergeant Billy Li is a branch manager for PCYC in the Whitsundays. Before he took that role and when we caught up with him he was a Cultural Advisory Officer with the Queensland Police Service (QPS) Cultural Engagement Unit, and he loves the challenges and rewards of his career.
“My role is very unique, it’s very special and it’s very diverse and it’s nothing like any other job in the Queensland Police Service,” Sergeant Li said.
Working in policy and program development, the Cultural Engagement Unit links the QPS with many multicultural and Indigenous bodies in Australia to provide reviews, advice, consultation and education to the QPS and the public.
These include partnerships and discussions with local communities and cultural groups as well as government departments, non-government organisations and other Australian law enforcement agencies.
While his job might seem different
