Brookfield Twilight Markets to Kick Off School Holidays with Family Fun

The Brookfield community is set to welcome the school holidays with an afternoon of family fun, local shopping and great food as the Brookfield Twilight Markets return.

Running from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on 26 June at Brooky Bar, Brookfield Showground, the free community event promises live entertainment, boutique market stalls, delicious food and activities for children.

Local makers take centre stage

Visitors will have the chance to browse a wide range of boutique stalls featuring local artisans and small businesses. Shoppers can discover everything from handmade children’s clothing and jewellery to locally crafted spirits, honey, candles, polymer clay earrings, fabric gifts and gluten-free treats.

The market will also feature face painting and sweet treats, giving families plenty to enjoy while supporting local businesses.

Entertainment for the whole family

Children can look forward to meeting a magical Roving Bubble Fairy, creating giant bubbles throughout the afternoon, before an exciting mini fire show lights up the evening.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, local musician Tyler, a Brookie’s Got Talent place-getter, will perform live during the event.

With plenty of open space for children to play, organisers hope families will settle in for a relaxed evening together.

Food trucks serve up Friday favourites

Food will be a major highlight of the markets, with several popular vendors offering dinner and dessert.

BBQ Roadshow will serve its signature slow-cooked meats, burgers, nuggets and chips, while ALBA Catering Japanese will offer freshly prepared Japanese favourites. Aaravices Ice Cream will also be on hand with a selection of frozen treats to help visitors cool off.

The Brooky Bar will be open throughout the evening with drinks available for adults.

Community event supports local businesses

The Twilight Markets are proudly organised by the not-for-profit Brookfield Show Society, bringing together local stallholders, entertainers and food vendors in a welcoming community setting.

With free entry and something for every age, the event offers families an easy way to celebrate the end of the school term while supporting Brookfield’s local businesses and community groups.

The Brookfield Twilight Markets will be held on Friday, 26 June, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Brooky Bar, 550 Brookfield Road, Brookfield Showground. Entry is free, and everyone is welcome.

Brookfield Show Returns With Rodeo Nights, Hobby Horses and Community Spirit

At a time when many suburban events struggle to hold onto local traditions, the Brookfield Showground is preparing to draw thousands of families back to the heart of Brisbane’s western suburbs with rodeos, woodchop contests, hobby horse races, fireworks and live entertainment packed into one community-driven weekend.

The Brookfield Show will run from 22 to 24 May, bringing together long-running agricultural displays with newer crowd favourites across the three-day program. Friday entry will begin at 3:00 p.m., with competition pavilions and entertainment starting in the afternoon before the evening rodeo and live music.

Hobby Horses and Woodchop Bring Old and New Crowds Together

Organisers are mixing long-standing country show traditions with activities aimed at younger audiences and families. Alongside horticulture, needle craft and livestock displays, this year’s program includes LEGO competitions and the increasingly popular Hobby Horse event, where competitors perform jumps and dressage routines using handcrafted hobby horses.

The woodchop competition is also returning, adding another traditional drawcard to the schedule. Across the grounds, visitors can expect puppet shows, pig races, reptile displays, baby animals and roaming entertainers throughout the weekend.

Community groups and local schools are also expected to take part through performances and talent showcases staged during the event.

Friday Rodeo Expected to Draw Evening Crowds

Night-time entertainment is expected to become a major attraction once the sun goes down at the showgrounds. The Friday night rodeo will feature cowboys and cowgirls competing in bull and bronc riding events before live music continues into the evening.

Saturday’s entertainment program will include horsemanship displays, live performances and another night of family activities, while fireworks are scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday nights.

The event remains one of the best-known community gatherings in Brisbane’s western suburbs, bringing together local organisations, schools, businesses and volunteers at the showgrounds each year.

Brookfield Museum and Trade Stalls Add Local Flair

Away from the main arena, visitors will also be able to explore trade stalls, food vendors and displays connected to Brookfield’s local history. The Brookfield Museum is expected to welcome visitors across the weekend, offering a look back at the area’s rural and community roots.

Families are also being encouraged to spend the full day at the grounds, with entertainment scheduled across multiple areas of the venue from morning through to evening.

Children’s Competitions Feature at 2025 Brookfield Show

Children from Brookfield and surrounding areas are invited to take part in the Brookfield Show’s children’s competitions, which are among the key highlights of the event.

Longstanding Community Event Returns to Brookfield

The Brookfield Show is set to run over three days at Brookfield Showground, continuing a tradition that began in 1910. First expanded to a three-day format in 1980, the event regularly draws more than 18,000 attendees and showcases the region’s rural and creative character. The Brookfield Show Society organises the event. It remains a volunteer-run and community-driven organisation.

Children’s Events Take Centre Stage

A key highlight of the 2025 Brookfield Show is the wide range of children’s competitions now open for entries. Young participants can choose from five categories: Cookery, Horticulture, Art, LEGO, and Talent Show.

In Cookery, children can enter creations such as decorated biscuits, cupcakes, and Grandma’s butter cake. Horticulture entries may include floral arrangements, vegetable sea creatures, and mini fairy gardens (group entries allowed).

The Art competition invites work based on the theme “A wondrous world”, while the LEGO contest follows the theme “Creations run wild”. Finally, the Talent Show is open to solo or group performances in areas like dance, instrumental music, singing, and other forms of talent.

These displays will be featured throughout the showgrounds, providing a platform for local children to share their skills and creativity with the broader community.

Brookfield Show 2025 Program Highlights

This year’s program includes a range of traditional and new events. Scheduled activities feature horse riding, needlecraft, horticulture exhibits, live music, school band performances, talent quests, and roaming entertainers. Popular segments like the reptile shows, pig races, and baby animal petting zoo are also returning.

Headline entertainment across the three evenings includes a rodeo on Friday, the Rooftop Express Western Show on Saturday, and an arena singalong hosted by The Little Red Company on Sunday. Fireworks are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday nights. Live musical acts include Will Day on Friday and The Mighty Boscombes on Saturday.

Local organisations have contributed to the event, with sponsorship from Lungscreen, Our Lady of the Rosary School, and Stuartholme School. Monarch Residences Toowong supports the entertainment program’s print version. It is a project by Consolidated Properties Group.

Event Schedule and Admission

The 2025 Brookfield Show runs from 23 to 25 May. Daily opening hours are 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Friday, 9 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. One-day tickets are priced at $30 for adults and $15 for children and concession card holders. Family and multi-day discounts are available.

Local Legacy and Community Focus

The Brookfield Show Society originated from the Brookfield Pullenvale and Moggill Farmers’ Association, founded in 1879. The show itself began in 1910 and has grown into a long-running local event with consistently strong attendance. Alongside the annual show, the society hosts other community activities throughout the year, including the Long Lunch, Bush Christmas, and regular Friday bar nights.

The event also features the Brookfield and District Community Award, recognising local residents for their contributions to the area. Visitors can also stop by the Brookfield District Museum, located on the showgrounds.

All Kinds of Fun and Exciting Competition for Kids As The Brookfield Show Returns

The Brookfield Show is back for another year and brimming with fun for kids who love a good round of exciting competitions. There literally is something in it for everyone!

Happening from 19 to 21 May 2023, the Brookfield Show will be giving children different opportunities to showcase their talent — baker, artist, LEGO builder, talented dancer, excellent horse rider, a whiz with the sewing machine, or a green thumb — there’s a competition for everyone.

Some of the competitions for kids include:

LEGO – Theme: “Magnificent Machines and Brilliant Buildings”
Art – Theme: “Farms, Ferris wheels and fun”
Talent Show – singing, dancing, instrumental or groups
Cookery – decorating and baking
Horticulture – create a fairy garden, vegetable/fruit unicorn and more
Guinea Pigs – funniest dressed, fastest eater, and other awards
Needlecraft & Patchwork – fabric toys, needlework, creative arts

At the Show, it’s all about enjoying the process of preparing the entry and the excitement when they see their creation on display at the show. There’s also the chance to win a ribbon and some prize money.

The children will also have a blast watching Mini Moshers, Larrikin Puppets and the wildly popular Bolster and Lee circus, which will have their debut at the Brookfield Show. Also presenting for the first time is Julia Baker of “The Snake Boss Show.”

The rodeo is scheduled for Friday night, whilst live music will be amping the vibe for Friday and Saturday. On the final day, a beautiful fireworks display is guaranteed to captivate the guests.

Experience and Celebrate Community Spirit at the 2019 Brookfield Show

The annual Brookfield Show is back! Experience and celebrate the community spirit by participating in the activities to be held at the Brookfield Showground, located 5.3 kilometres from Kenmore, from Friday, the 17th of May 2019 to Sunday, the 19th.

The event, hosted by the non-profit Brookfield Show Society Inc., will actually mark its opening with the announcement of the winners of the Art, Children’s Art and Crafts, Photography, Sculpture, and Woodwork contest on Thursday night. This competition was participated in early April by students from Brookfield State School.

Then the next morning at 9:00, the pavilion will open its doors to the actual activities of the Brookfield Show with the Equestrian Events. There will be more fanfare in the afternoon, such as:

Rodeo
Sideshow entertainment
Live Music (at the Member’s Bar)

The Brookfield Show will also have a session for riders with disabilities, which will be introduced for the first time at this year’s event.

Saturday and Sunday’s activities, on the other hand, will feature more entertainment and exhibits at the pavilion. Sections will be divided into the different show as well as arts and crafts competitions.

There will also be a dog show at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.

The Brookfield District Museum: Collecting, Preserving, and Sharing Brookfield and Upper Brookfield History

Located on the Brookfield Showground, the Brookfield District Museum is home to Brookfield’s and Upper Brookfield’s collection of historical artifacts and memorabilia from the early settlers in the area.

The museum building is a former Pullenvale Farmhouse which has a room that was operated as Pullenvale Post Office between 1879 and 1958. In 2003, the building was moved from White Cedar Road, Pullenvale to the Brookfield Showground and underwent several alterations.

On 3 December 2004, the building was officially opened as The Brookfield District Museum. The museum is divided into three rooms, exhibiting collections from Brookfield pioneering families, the Brookfield Show, and household items from the last century.

Once a well-forested area, timber became a prominent industry in Brookfield. During the 1800s, timber was hauled by the Bullock team to the rafting ground and rafted down the Brisbane river. Timber also end up at ‘Bon Accord’ — Brookfield’s own sawmill, established by Charles Patterson in 1875 — on Brookfield Road. The Rafting Ground Reserve and Rafting Ground Road now serve as reminders to this early Brookfield industry.

Many of the tools and photographs representing this era, along with early farming equipment from early twentieth-century Brookfield settlers are on display at the museum, such as a waistcoat worn by one of the area’s major landholder to his wedding in 1854.

Also included in the museum’s collection are many of historical research and publication produced in the past fourteen years and some of Brookfield Show Society and Brookfield Pony Club archives.

The Brookfield District Museum is open 9 a.m. on Brookfield Market Saturdays, the first and third Saturdays in each month, and during Brookfield Show. Off-street parking and disabled access are available at the site.

Brookfield’s Mini Country Show is All Set to Delight at Brookfield Showground

All is set for a mini country show at the Brookfield Showground.

Brookfield Show is back at the Brookfield Showground to highlight the best of country life from Friday 18 May to Sunday 20 May 2018.

The famous annual agricultural event will showcase exciting equestrian events, rodeo and live entertainment for kids and grown-ups alike. Packed with all the fun activities, the annual show always turns out somewhat like a smaller version of the huge Brisbane Ekka.

Show Friday

Show Friday is District Day, with equestrian events filling the main arena. The day won’t be complete without the Rodeo and sideshow entertainment. Other attractions to expect include “Poison Anvil” demonstrations, free animal farm, venomous snake show and display, pony rides, face painting, games and hobby horses equitation.

There will also be live music right at the Member’s Bar.

On Thursday night, prior to the formal start of the event, the winners of the art, children’s’ art and craft, photography, sculpture and woodwork contests will be revealed.

Equestrian events start at 8:00 a.m. and the pavilions and carnival will open each day at 9:00 a.m.

Show Saturday and Sunday

Saturday and Sunday events are filled with pavilion exhibits, live performances, displays, ring events and sideshow entertainment.

Come early at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday for the judging of the Brookfield Dog Show competitions and the poultry competition. The weekend will be filled with various attractions such as wood chopping competition, roving entertainment, a mini pig race and silent disco.

Evening events include jousting, light horse demonstrations and FMX bikes.

Expect non-stop live music and performances on the whole day of Saturday and on Sunday until the early evening.

Fireworks will light up the sky on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. and again at 6:15 p.m. on Sunday to close the event.
