Police from the Inner West Crime Prevention Unit were invited to attend the Little Ducks Childcare at Bardon and speak with the centre’s pre-school and kindergarten students.
During the visit the students got to learn about being a police officer and they can always talk to a police officer about any problems. They learnt about personal safety, positive behaviours and road safety “being a safe car passenger”.
The children learnt that we can sometimes be hard to find if we are a small person. When you go out with your family and if you get lost to look for a police officer or another official person for help.
Parents are advised to have a plan and to discuss strategies with their children before actually leaving for events such as shopping.
It can be quite traumatic for a child when Mum or Dad gets lost at unfamiliar places. Before leaving it is a great idea

Revocation of stand down – Operations Support Command
A 40-year old male Senior Constable from Operations Support Command who was stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service on November 18, 2016 will now return to operational duties following the revocation of his stand down.
The officer was the subject of a Crime and Corruption Commission investigation concerning on duty conduct. All court proceedings have now been finalised.
The member is still the subject of an internal discipline investigation.
In keeping with our commitment to high standards of behaviour, transparency and accountability, we have undertaken to inform the public when an officer faces serious allegations of misconduct.
This does not mean that the allegations against the officer have been substantiated.
Thank you for getting involved!

Again, a big thank you to Hugh from the Mt Glorious Café for his support, as well as the local Neighbourhood Watch Groups and residents.
Police launch road safety operation for winter break
Drivers distracted by mobile phones will be the key target with police today launching a state-wide traffic operation to coincide with the winter school holidays.
QPS’ Road Policing Command launched the three-week campaign, Operation Cold Snap 2017, as hundreds of thousands of students finish their last day of school for the semester.
The operation will target driver distraction as well as speeding, seat belt use, drink and drug driving and fatigue, which together make up the fatal five.
The winter school holiday period can be a busy time on Queensland roads, especially with people travelling long distances to and from holiday destinations in relatively short time frames.
The Queensland Police Service will play a key role in ensuring road safety and compliance as they coordinate Operation Cold Snap across the state from Friday June 23 to Friday July 14, 2017.
Assistant Commissioner Mike Keating said police will be focusing on driver inattention and the inappropriate
Mt Zero – Don’t become a statistic
Police from the Inner West Patrol Group in conjunction with The Gap Neighbourhood Watch will be at Mount Glorious Café this Saturday and Sunday mornings to spread road safety messages to road users that meet there.
You will find us set up near the busy Mt Glorious Café and are happy to speak with local residents, motorcycle riders and cyclists about sharing the road safely.
Mt Zero is a campaign created to raise awareness of the dangers of Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious Roads. Common factors contributing to accidents on these roads are speed, lack of rider experience, rider error, motorcycle visibility and collision with other vehicles.
Police will continue to remind all road users on the dangers of the mountain roads they are about to experience. The aim of the campaign is to reduce accidents and fatalities on these very roads.

Who gives way at a roundabout?
Police have become aware that drivers may have forgotten the rules for entering and leaving a roundabout which is causing concerns for other road users.
When approaching a roundabout you must give way to all vehicles already on the roundabout.
In some cases on a multi-lane roundabout, it may be necessary to change lanes before exiting. If you are changing lanes you must give way to vehicles in the lane you are moving to.
Please refresh your knowledge by watching the TMR videos below and share them with your family and friends to help make our roads safer for all road users.
Further information can also be found on the TMR website here.

Damage to vehicles in local area solved
Detectives from the Inner West Child Protection and Investigation executed search warrants at a Arana Hills and Ferny Hills homes earlier today.
As result of these search warrants detectives have charged three 17-year-old males with wilful damage offences.
The offences occurred over the Easter long weekend where vehicle windows and panels were damaged.
The vehicles were parked on the street in the Arana Hills, Ferny Hills, Ferny Grove, Mitchelton, Keperra and Upper Kedron areas.
It would appear that the three youths have used golf clubs and other implements to drive around and damage vehicles parked on the side of the road.
If your vehicle was damaged around this time please contacted Ferny Grove Police as it may be linked.
If you have information for police, contact Policelink on 131 444 or provide information using the online form 24hrs per day.
