Police have charged a man following the stabbing of a police officer at Upper Mount Gravatt earlier this month.
A 25-year-old man has been charged with one count of attempted murder. The man remains in hospital and is expected to have a bedside hearing tomorrow (August 19).

A police officer is recovering in hospital after being stabbed by a man at Upper Mount Gravatt yesterday afternoon.
Police attended a residence on Hillgrove Street just before 5pm to serve the man with documents.
Preliminary information indicates the man lunged at an officer with a knife, slashing him across the face. Another police officer has discharged their firearm and shot the man multiple times in the abdomen.
The male senior constable sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries in the attack and is recovering in hospital.
The man, aged 25-years-old, remains in hospital after undergoing surgery overnight.
A crime scene declared is still in place as officers continue their investigations.

Cross-border drug trafficking syndicate dismantled
Police have charged five people in relation to drug trafficking and dismantled a national drug syndicate after a series of search warrants in Queensland and Victoria were executed on Wednesday.
Simultaneous search warrants were executed at Inala, Oxley and Sumner in Queensland, and Cairnlea, St Albans and Hampton in Victoria, with a substantial amount of drugs and cash being located.
During the searches, conducted by the Drug and Serious Crime Group, in conjunction with officers from the Victoria Police Crime Command, detectives seized 400 cannabis plants, a quantity of cannabis, over $30,000 in cash and number of mobile phones and sim cards.
Lead by the State Crime Command’s Drug and Serious Crime Group, Operation Sierra Stayer commenced in December 2019 to investigate a national organised crime group trafficking dangerous drugs across QLD, VIC and WA borders.

Appeal for assistance – Rape charges and video, Brisbane City
Police investigating the alleged rape of a young woman last month in Brisbane are appealing for public assistance after concerning video was discovered on a mobile phone depicting other unknown women.
Detectives from Brisbane City Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant at a Mary Street address yesterday (August 4) and arrested a 30-year-old local man.
During a search of the residence police will allege they located mobile telephones, video recording equipment, prescription drugs and illicit drugs.
The man has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today charged with ten offences including stupefying in order to commit indictable offence,
rape, sexual assault, unlawful stalking, observations or recordings in breach of privacy, supplying dangerous drugs, possession of a restricted drug and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

Attempted murder, Brisbane City
Ferny Grove detectives have charged a man with attempted murder following the alleged assault of a woman in Brisbane last night.
It will be alleged the 39-year-old man attempted to push the 18-year-old woman, known to him, from an Albert Street unit complex balcony around 10pm.
Police attended after being contacted by a number of concerned residents and arrested a 39-year-old Bongaree man in the vicinity.
He has been charged with attempted murder (domestic violence offence), assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence) and possess utensil.
He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.

Three women charged under the Public Health Act
Detectives from Task Force Sierra Linnet have charged three women for allegedly providing false information on their Queensland border declarations.
Police will allege that all three women travelled to Victoria and deliberately provided misleading documents at the Queensland border.
A 19-year-old Heritage Park woman, a 21-year-old Acacia Ridge woman and a 21-year-old Algester woman have all been charged with one count each of providing false or misleading documents – Section 364 of the Public Health Act (maximum penalty – 100 penalty units or $13,345) and fraud (dishonestly gain benefit / advantage) – Section 408C(1)(d) of the criminal code (maximum penalty five years’ imprisonment).
Police can also confirm that all three women are now cooperating with QPS and Queensland Health officials.
A criminal investigation is also being undertaken by Task Force Sierra Linnet investigators which is unrelated and not connected to the alleged travel to Victoria.

Border restrictions expanded for NSW hotspots in Greater Sydney
Queensland border restrictions will be expanded following the declaration of Greater Sydney becoming a COVID-19 hotspot from this weekend.
From 1am, Saturday, August 1, 34 local government areas of Greater Sydney will be declared COVID-19 hotspots.
A full list of current COVID-19 hotspots can be found on the Queensland Health website.
New South Wales local government areas of Liverpool City, Fairfield City and Campbelltown City as well as the whole state of Victoria remain active COVID-19 hotspots.
Queensland’s border restrictions mean people who have been in a COVID-19 hotspot within the last 14 days will be turned away at the state’s border.
Queensland residents who have been in a COVID-19 hotspot can return home but will be required to quarantine in government provided accommodation at their own expense.
Since July 3, anyone entering Queensland is required to complete a border declaration pass which is valid for seven days or until the person’s circumstances
