Closest to a real south Indian experience finally!!!!. The Spice level of “Indian hot” truly hit the spot. Perfect and delicious I intend to take left over for the next day. But just couldn’t resist completing my meal. Lol. Waitress was very courteous, knowledgeable and was only around when required. 2 big boys with happy tummies (Biryanis (beef and goat) with chicken 65). $65

Great food! Really warm and friendly service. Very good atmosphere inside the restaurant (doesn’t feel like you’re in a shopping centre once your inside).

Food tates authentic, portions are the right and when it’s cold they put the heater on. However each wall has different wallpaper on each wall.

A few months ago our visit wasn’t great, but when we came back last week, the food quality had improved a lot. The Caesar salad had been watery before, but I ordered it again (I can’t stand cucumber in regular salads), and the improvement was amazing. The steak is amazing for the price too.

Our extended family have met here for early Christmas lunches for many years. Most years are lovely, one was not. This year was wonderful. The staff were excellent. Our meals were actually timed to arrive at the same time, even though our orders were staggered. A first! The food was delicious, I didn’t hear any complaints from our party. Thank you!

Awesome staff, great drinks and food. I have been living here my whole life and my wife and I have only been coming for the past 2 months, but it’s been great, and the renovations are so refreshing, I’d give 6 stars if I could!

Lovely outdoor seating in a beautiful garden, with a large play area for kids. Food was generous size and they made a vegan option by substituting halloumi for hash brown. Great coffee too.

We are Saturday luncheon regulars for the past two years. Their steak sandwiches and wraps are literally world class. Management and serving staff are unfailingly polite and hard working. Thank you so much for the many hours of great food, music and service.

We went to there at 2:45pm. They can say we close but they served us. Coffee was great and food was excellent. I’m big eater but I have to take some for hotel. I think if they open night they get more business.
I came here again they still serve beautiful food and great service

My favourite take out hands down. Everything on this menu is delicious and you feel way better after having this for a take out night! The chicken is so perfectly cooked and the chips are to die for. But my absolute favourite is the beef burger

Moggill Emerges as One of Brisbane’s Fastest-Growing Suburbs Amid Housing Market Shift

Once seen as a quiet outer-western pocket, Moggill is now one of Brisbane’s fastest-rising housing markets, drawing attention from buyers priced out of more central areas. With its leafy streets, family-friendly appeal, and growing reputation, the suburb is stepping into the spotlight as the city’s property market continues to evolve.

Read: Kenmore, Brookfield, and Moggill Named Queensland’s Best Suburbs for Families

Moggill recorded a 28.9 per cent increase in median house prices over the past year, according to the latest PRD Smart Moves report, outpacing many of Brisbane’s more established suburbs. This surge places it among the top-performing areas in the city, leading growth on the western side.

The broader report highlights a market shifting under the pressure of limited supply and rising prices. Brisbane’s median house price has reached $989,000, up 6.8 per cent from the previous year. The proportion of affordable unit suburbs has fallen sharply—from 60.3 per cent in late 2024 to just 38.7 per cent in early 2025—indicating that affordability is becoming increasingly scarce.

While inner-city convenience once drove demand, affordability and lifestyle are now steering buyers towards the outer ring. Moggill, traditionally overlooked for its distance from the CBD, is being reconsidered as a practical alternative offering space, quiet, and long-term investment value.

Citywide, other top house growth suburbs include Virginia (+35.8 percent), Rocklea (+34.4 percent), and Birkdale (+28.3 percent), but Moggill stands out in the west. Meanwhile, the report notes an undersupply of detached houses, with only 186 new standalone homes planned compared to more than 10,000 new units, suggesting further upward pressure on house prices.

As Brisbane’s property market edges toward balance, Moggill’s rise may signal where future value lies—on the fringe, where space and affordability still align.

Kenmore, Brookfield, and Moggill Named Queensland’s Best Suburbs for Families

Kenmore, Brookfield, and Moggill have been named the top places to raise a family in Queensland, according to new research ranking the state’s most liveable suburbs for children.

The West Brisbane trio claimed the top spot in a study by iSelect, which assessed suburbs based on childcare access, affordability, and early childhood development outcomes across 80 locations.

What set Kenmore, Brookfield, and Moggill apart was their balance of key factors, including excellent childcare availability—at 1.39 places per child—and a higher-than-average fertility rate of 1.58 births per woman. These indicators suggest that families aren’t just moving in, but choosing to stay and grow in the area.

Southeast Queensland suburbs dominated the top rankings, with Sherwood and Indooroopilly placing second. That region stood out with the highest child development score among the top five at 88.5 per cent. Brisbane’s Inner West followed in third, performing strongly in both child development—at 87 per cent—and affordability, with childcare costing an average of 25.9 per cent of household income.

iSelect conducted the study using publicly available government data to determine the most family-friendly regions across Australia. Each area was assessed based on five key indicators: the percentage of children meeting developmental milestones, the availability of childcare places, average childcare expenses, the quality of local healthcare services, and the average fertility rate per woman.

iSelect spokeswoman Sophie Ryan said the results reflect broader community strengths, including well-established infrastructure, quality schools and strong local support—all factors that contribute to a stable and family-friendly environment.

While lifestyle destinations like the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast remain attractive, the study noted they were let down by low childcare availability, which affected their rankings.

For one Brisbane family, the decision to move to Kenmore earlier this year after returning from Victoria was an easy one. Their youngest daughter now attends the same kindergarten her father once did, and they were drawn to the suburb’s green spaces, family connections, and semi-rural charm.

Massive Block, Half-Built Mansion: Moggill Property Seeks New Owner

Locals in Moggill may have noticed the unusual structure rising from the fields at the end of Landing Place — a part-built mansion that has sparked curiosity for years. Now, after nearly two decades of stop-start progress, the property is officially on the market again, and it’s looking for a new owner with vision.

Set on a rare 10,000sqm block at 29 Landing Place in Moggill, the property is unlike anything else currently for sale in the area. The site comes with the shell of an enormous home that was originally planned to include seven bedrooms, seven bathrooms, multiple kitchens, and a pool, but the project was never completed.

What remains is a massive concrete slab and brick framework. The roof, interior walls, and fittings were removed by the current owners to make way for a bigger build, which never eventuated. Now, the property is being sold as-is, for offers over $1.2 million.

While the structure itself might not be move-in ready, the land alone is something special. Flat, cleared, and close to local amenities like Moggill Village, Bellbowrie Plaza, and the Moggill Ferry, it’s a rare chance to secure acreage this close to the city.

For builders, renovators, or dream-home hopefuls, this could be the ultimate project. It could also suit someone keen to start fresh with a new home design, something that’s becoming harder to do as large blocks like this become increasingly scarce.

The last time the property sold in 2023, it was actually in a more finished state, with a roof, staircase, and bathrooms. The changes since then reflect the previous owners’ ambitious plans, which have now been shelved in favour of other opportunities.

With Moggill’s median house price now sitting at around $1.2 million — up 24 percent in the past year — interest is expected to be strong, particularly from buyers who understand the area’s lifestyle appeal and growth potential.

For locals, it’s a familiar landmark with a story. For the right buyer, it could be the beginning of something spectacular.

Pickleball Courts Proposed for Kenmore and Moggill Parks

Two new multi-use pickleball courts are being considered for Twilight Street Park in Kenmore and Westaway Park in Moggill, with local residents invited to provide feedback to help shape the project.

Plans to Enhance Community Spaces

The proposed courts aim to serve as versatile spaces for pickleball and other sports, like basketball and netball, promoting outdoor activities for a broad age range. At Twilight Street Park, the court would feature a basketball hoop at one end and a netball hoop at the other, while Westaway Park would combine pickleball with a new basketball shooting hoop, replacing the current one.

Pickleball has grown in popularity in Brisbane and across Australia due to its benefits for physical health and social connection. The hope is that these new courts will bring more opportunities for local residents to engage in active and sociable activities. Feedback from the community is being sought to ensure the project meets residents’ needs, with submissions due by 25 October.

Mixed Community Responses

While many locals support the idea of new recreational facilities, there have been mixed reactions. A local tennis coach suggested that existing tennis courts could be adapted for pickleball, rather than building new ones, citing cost efficiency benefits and creating structured programs for players of all ages.

Concerns have also been raised about potential issues with noise, vandalism, and antisocial behaviour. A resident shared their experiences living near a public basketball court, pointing to problems like loud music, bullying, and general disruption for park users. These concerns highlight the need to ensure the courts are thoughtfully designed to minimise disturbance while offering value to the community.

Some residents have also requested that the basketball hoop at Westaway Park be adjusted to the correct height, particularly for older players and those involved in state-level competitions. The proposed plan includes making this adjustment as part of the project.

How to Provide Feedback

Community feedback is a key part of shaping the final design of these courts. Residents are encouraged to share their thoughts and concerns to ensure the facilities meet local needs. One important detail is that lighting will not be included in the project to avoid disturbances, addressing some residents’ concerns about light pollution.

Those wishing to share their feedback can do so by emailing pullenvale.ward@brisbane.qld.gov.au. The deadline for feedback is Friday, 25 October, after which the next steps in the project will be determined based on the input received. The community’s involvement will help shape the future of these parks in Kenmore and Moggill.

A new 29-lot subdivision has been approved in Moggill, promising to expand housing options for potential homebuyers.

The project, known as The Plateau Estate, is located at 51 Priors Pocket Road and is being developed by DVLP Projects.

The Brisbane City Council recently granted approval for the subdivision, which will occupy a total area of 2.48 hectares. Lot sizes in the development will range from 500 to 1,400 square metres, offering a variety of options to suit different needs and preferences.

In a move that sets this project apart, DVLP Projects has partnered with Metricon, an award-winning home builder. This collaboration will allow buyers to choose from a range of different home designs for each lot, providing a level of customization not often seen in new developments.

The Plateau Estate is situated just 23 kilometres from Brisbane’s CBD, making it an attractive option for those seeking a balance between suburban living and city access. Moggill, known for its leafy streets and family-friendly atmosphere, offers a mix of acreage living and suburban amenities.

Local real estate experts anticipate strong interest in the development, given Moggill’s reputation as a desirable suburb. The area boasts generous block sizes, parklands, and a strong community focus, creating a village-like atmosphere that has become increasingly sought-after in recent years.

The subdivision is well-positioned to take advantage of existing infrastructure in Moggill, including two large neighbourhood centres, multiple childcare facilities, public transport options, and various sporting facilities.

As Brisbane continues to grow and evolve, developments like The Plateau Estate play a crucial role in meeting housing demand while maintaining the character of established suburbs. The project is expected to commence sales in the near future, with completion dates to be announced.

This new subdivision represents a significant addition to Moggill’s housing market and is likely to attract a diverse range of buyers, from first-home owners to families looking to upgrade their living situations.

Facial Recognition AI Helps Save the Koalas in Moggill & Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Did you know that the Moggill Koala Rehabilitation Centre and the Lone Pine Sanctuary in Fig Tree Pocket are harnessing the power of Artificial Intelligence (AI) by using facial recognition technology to help save the koalas?

Efforts to bolster the survival of koalas are now complemented by the innovative work of a team of Griffith University AI researchers and ecologists, who have secured funding to advance their ‘facial recognition’ camera technology at koala crossing locations across South East Queensland (SEQ).

For the third consecutive year, these researchers are working to deploy state-of-the-art “facial recognition” camera technology at strategic koala crossing locations across SEQ.

This groundbreaking initiative aims to monitor and understand how koalas utilise these crossing points, ultimately providing invaluable research-based insights to help safeguard this declining population.

Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary

Leading this pioneering study is Professor Jun Zhou from Griffith’s School of Information and Communication Technology. The project’s inception was made possible by a $90,000 Community Sustainability Action Grant awarded by the Queensland Government’s Department of Environment and Science in March 2021, followed by an additional $100,000 grant from DES in June 2023.

“This project extends our innovative AI-powered koala monitoring system to cover wider areas of koala habitat in South East Queensland, and engage with 14 local community groups across 10 local government areas to facilitate the installation and maintenance of the camera network,” Professor Zhou shared.

In July 2021, the team successfully deployed 24 AI-powered cameras at strategic koala crossing locations within the Redland City Council area. These cameras automatically activate in response to koala movement, capturing hundreds of videos and images which are then transmitted to a server at Griffith University.

The AI technology developed by the research team studies these videos and images, enabling it to identify individual koalas.

Caroline Moss, Queensland Rail Group Senior Manager Environment & Sustainability, emphasized the significance of this research.

“A research project like this helps us to understand how this technology can be applied, not only here in the Redlands, but where appropriate in other locations, given that Queensland Rail operates a really large network,” she said.

To ensure the AI can accurately distinguish one koala from another based on their appearance and movements, the research team collaborated closely with conservation groups such as the Koala Action Group Redlands, Daisy Hill Koala Centre, Moggill Koala Rehabilitation Centre, and Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary.

“We can see from the data that koalas are in trouble here. They’ve recently been listed as endangered in Australia, and Southeast Queensland was formally a hotspot. The driver of that decline has been urbanisation,” Dr. Douglas Kerlin, a co-researcher, said.

The research project is particularly relevant during the breeding season when koalas face increased risks, including collisions with vehicles.

“We’re all about sharing information, and it’s really good to be able to put people in contact and create that conduit between researchers so that everyone can get to the same goal faster,” Frank Mikula from Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary near Kenmore, highlighted the importance of collaboration.

“The technology does the heavy lifting for us, and that’s really important moving forward.

“With increased knowledge about how koalas are crossing roads, we can better inform mitigation and management so that we can ensure a better long-term future for koalas.”

Get Ready! Moggill Marathon Scenic Fun Run Returns

Are you ready to run a half marathon, join a fun run, or take on the hilly terrain of “Mount Moggill,” all for a worthy cause? Organized by local residents David Ember, Emil Schoeman, and their friends, the Poolwerx Moggill Marathon is coming up soon.

The marathon, happening on Sunday, 21 May 2023, will start at Kangaroo Gully Road and finish at Witty Road by the Westaway Park entrance.

Whether choosing to participate in a half marathon, 10km, 5km, or 2km fun run, participants can expect to be treated to breathtaking views of the picturesque Moggill region. But the real challenge lies in scaling “Mount Moggill” and its hilly terrain along the way, adding an exciting element to the event.

Despite the absence of an official marathon in the current event lineup, the Poolwerx Moggill Marathon has grown in popularity among participants and the local community. In previous years, runners praised the event for its well-organized nature, enjoyable atmosphere, and challenging yet rewarding courses.

The marathon is seen as a fantastic warm-up and training opportunity for other upcoming marathons in the Brisbane and Gold Coast areas. Mr Ember shared the story behind the Poolwerx Moggill Marathon’s inception.

“Emil and I were running Rocks Riverside Park Run every Saturday together for fun after we met late 2019 through our daughters attending the same prep class at Moggill State School,” he said.

Initially, the pair had only completed a half marathon, but they decided to take on the challenge of organizing their own marathon after the cancellation of the Brisbane Marathon due to the pandemic. The inaugural event took place in 2020, with the starting and finishing point located at Westaway Park.

The Poolwerx Moggill Marathon not only offers a memorable experience for participants but also supports important causes. In 2023, the chosen beneficiary is Bravery Box, an organization that provides support for children with cancer. The event also extends its support to various local community groups, fostering a sense of unity and camaraderie among participants and residents alike.
