A police officer is recovering in hospital after being stabbed by a man at Upper Mount Gravatt yesterday afternoon.
Police attended a residence on Hillgrove Street just before 5pm to serve the man with documents.
Preliminary information indicates the man lunged at an officer with a knife, slashing him across the face. Another police officer has discharged their firearm and shot the man multiple times in the abdomen.
The male senior constable sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries in the attack and is recovering in hospital.
The man, aged 25-years-old, remains in hospital after undergoing surgery overnight.
A crime scene declared is still in place as officers continue their investigations.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident that has not come forward or motorists with relevant dashcam footage, to contact police.
As with all critical incidents, the Ethical Standard Command will maintain oversight of the investigation.
