The mountain roads through Mount Nebo and Mount Glorious, have been very quiet for the last month with Queenslanders adhering to COVID-19 restrictions.
During this time, there has been a substantial reduction in general recreational traffic (cars and motorcycles) across our mountain roads.
Recently, we have seen a notable increase in the general community visiting these areas for exercise.
This has subsequently led to an increase in traffic on the two mountains, and a noticeable associated increase in vehicular related noise from this traffic.
Regretfully, some road users are behaving in a manner that is unacceptable and putting themselves and the lives of others at risk.
Police from The Gap and Ferny Grove Police Divisions, along with their Road Policing Command counterparts, would like to reassure members of our local mountain communities, that Inner West Police will increase and continue traffic enforcement on mountain roads to defer any further negative behaviour.
