On Wednesday, February 26 and Friday, February 28, Police, Volunteers in Policing (VIPs) and Police Liaison Officers (PLOs) attended the University of Queensland (UQ) at their St Lucia campus to promote the responsible consumption of alcohol amongst university students.
The two events comprised of UQ O-Week Market Day on the Wednesday and the UQ Union Student Advocacy and Support (SAS) Health, Safety and Wellness Day on the Friday.
Officers utilised their attendance at these two events to promote their a fight over nothing changed everything campaign, to stop alcohol fuelled violence.
During their engagement with university students, police spoke about responsible drinking practices, the negative effects of alcohol consumption, looking out for each other, alcohol counselling and support services available.
