Lets talk about bicycle security

Police from the Inner West Patrol Group would like to remind cyclists, young and old, of some security tips to protect their pride and joys.
Unfortunately, bicycles are being stolen in our community and a shocking number were not secured at the time.

There are many security tips for cyclists, including:

Never leave your bike unattended and unlocked – always use a quality lock;
Lock as much of your bike as possible including the back wheel and frame to a rack or remove the front wheel and lock it as well;
Lock your bike to a solid object rather than something that can be cut, damaged or removed and;
Secure your bike when at home by keeping it in a locked shed, garage or inside your home.

Police suggest that cyclists register their bicycle serial number via the West End Serial Hub to help police reunite cyclists with located stolen bicycles.
