On Sunday, May 26 three police officers from Brisbane’s Inner West patrol group were seriously assaulted whilst attending a call for service in relation to community safety.
This was widely reported across all forms of media.
What was not reported was that a day later in the same area, another officer was threatened by a male with a fence paling and then a week later that, a female detective was assaulted whilst talking to a man.
I would like to acknowledge the dedicated and professional group of police officers in Brisbane’s Inner West who continue to front up daily to respond to the calls for service of the community and who work tirelessly to ensure the safety of their community.
They do this despite the constant threat of injury or harm to themselves, which is evident by the above mentioned incidents over the past month.
