Inner West police experience the Horses 4 Heroes program
On Thursday, June 6, Inner West crime prevention officers, along with fellow members from North Brisbane crime prevention units, vulnerable persons unit and police liaison officers, had the privilege of visiting and experiencing first hand the Horses 4 Heroes program at Walcol.
The Horses 4 Heroes is a equine healing program run by ex-defence force veterans who are now supporting veterans and emergency medical service (EMS) personnel suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Equine healing was first conducted for service personnel in England during WW1 for the commonwealth servicemen.
An English lady by the name of Ms Oliver Sands took her horses to the Oxford Hospital to provide riding training and grooming as part of the rehabilitation program to the service personnel wounded in WW1.
Today, the Wounded Heroes Equine Program has been developed for clients who need to develop a sense of self worth and
