Police are encouraging Inner West businesses to assesses and review their physical security and business security practises.
Several businesses in the Inner West District have recently been targeted by thieves conducting break, enter and steal offences, during out of business hour periods.
The offenders have used forced entry techniques to enter business premises (both large and small) with the intention of targeting both safes and money draws.
There are many forms of crime that can effect businesses, including break and enter offences.
By taking some simple step’s, businesses can greatly minimise the risk of becoming a target.
Listed below are some tips to reduce this risk:
Display your business name and address at the front of your premises to help emergency services locate your property quickly;
Place warning signs/stickers around your business to detour intruders (eg. ‘No Cash Kept on Premises’);
Ensure clear visibility inside and outside your business by using good lighting and keeping it clutter free;
Keep trees and shrubs trimmed to help reduce concealment
