On Friday November 30, officers from the Inner West Crime Prevention Unit conducted proactive crime prevention and community engagement patrols along the Brisbane River, from the Brisbane CBD to the University of Queensland St Lucia Campus.
The patrols were conducted utilising the Police Maverick All Train Vehicle (ATV).
The compact size of the Maverick, enabled police easy access and mobility along the Riverside Bike and Walking tracks.
The patrols allowed members of public and tourists to positively and personally interact with police and experience police equipment up close.
Police also used this opportunity to provide hydration to the public by dispensing cold ice water from the back of the Maverick.
This Crime Prevention initiative proved to be very popular not only in instilling public confidence in their personal safety, but assisting them in staying adequately hydrated, particularity with the current heat wave conditions.
