Successful traffic operations for the month of October

Police from the Inner West and Pine and Gateway Patrol Groups are currently conducting a series of partnership operations with Road Policing Command, SPER and Transport and Main Roads Inspectors to target drink and drug driving and defective vehicle offences.
These aim to reduce road trauma due to traffic crashes caused by driver behaviours or faulty motor vehicles.
Our targeting of locations is intelligence-based and effective, as we are removing a high ratio of drug drivers in particular from our suburban streets.
That is something that benefits everyone’s safety.
Simply, if you drive with illegal substances in your system, you will be found and you will face the court system.
In four recent 2 and 3-hour duration operations on identified transport corridors, the following road safety enforcement was undertaken:

1,888 RBTs conducted
10 RDTs conducted
17 Traffic Infringement Notices issued by QPS and DTMR Inspectors
33 Vehicles Defected by DTMR Inspectors
87 Persons of Interest spoken to
16 persons arrested on
