Poor old Lorrie when first found by police
During the conduct of their recent traffic operation on October 17, Inner West Police Officers located an injured baby Rainbow Lorikeet, whom they affectionately named Lorrie.
Lorrie the Lorikeet was found in a distressed and dishevelled state and appeared to have fallen from his nest during the recent inclement weather.
Police attempted to locate Lorrie’s mum and nest in order to reunite them.
However, this proved to be unsuccessful.
Police then took Lorrie into their care and transported him to the nearest place of safety: the caring staff from the Ashgrove Avenue Veterinary Clinic.
After a thorough check-up and a bite to eat, Lorrie was handed over to a wildlife carer for further care.
Not only did Inner West Police reduce road trauma during the conduct of their operation, but they also reduced the chances of us losing another one of our treasured feathered friends.
