Sergeant Murray Watson
On Tuesday, July 10, the Inner West Police District said farewell to one their finest, with the retirement of Sergeant Murray Watson.
Sergeant Watson retired on the date of his 60th birthday, after serving faithfully and honourably for 43 years and 5 months with the Queensland Police Service.
Sergeant Watson served with the QPS from January 1975 to July 2018, and served at the following police establishments during his policing career:
• Indooroopilly (Training)
• City Station
• Police Operations Centre
• Emerald
• Mobile Patrols
• Police Operations Centre
• West End
• Kenmore
• Toowong
• Indooroopilly
During his career Sergeant Watson also was deployed as part of the policing response to the 2011 Grathan Floods, Townsville flood relief, the G20 and the recent Commonwealth Games.
Sergeant Watson was not only extremely well respected by his fellow police officers, but also by the border Inner West community.
