On February 24, police from the Inner West Crime Prevention Unit were invited by the University Queensland Malaysian Student Association (UQMSA) to be guest speakers during the induction of new Malaysian students enrolling into the University of Queensland (UQ) Campus at St Lucia.
UQMSA is an official and non profit student body based at the UQ St Lucia campus. UQMSA welcome individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds regardless of nationality to join in with their actives. Through their promotion of Malaysian culture via fun filled social and educational activities, UQMSA strive to offer their members a vibrant campus culture and community experience. UQMSA motto is ‘Bring a piece of home to you‘ and a ‘Home away from home‘.
During their presentation police encouraged positive interactions with QPS and promoted the services police could provide to them as international students and residents of Queensland. Other topics covered included property security and personal protective behaviours and strategies to be utilised while on campus, out in the general community and at home.
