Joint operation targets railway offences, Mitchelton

On February 2, police from Ferny Grove in conjunction with staff from Queensland Rail and officers from Brisbane City Tactical Crime Squad (TCS) and Indooroopilly Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB), conducted an operation at Mitchelton Railway Station providing a high visibility policing presence in and around the station in an attempt to detect offenders committing rail related offences.
Thirteen Notices to Appear were issued for fare evasion offences and one Notice to Appear was issued for a stealing offence. Three Passenger Infringement Notices and eight Warning Notices were also issued for fare evasions.
Constable Ian Matthews would like to remind commuters to keep their go card topped up to ensure they have sufficient funds for their trips.
“If you register your go card, card holders can set up automatic top-ups to ensure their accounts always have enough funds for their trips,” Constable Matthews said.
