This morning as part of Queensland Road Safety Week, Indooroopilly Road Policing Unit undertook an operation with a difference. We spoke with the drivers of vehicles that were identified as having a minor defect such as non functional brake lights or indicators.
When we stopped drivers we were able to provide them with a voucher from a major automotive retailer as an incentive to quickly replace the broken globes. Whilst some might think that broken bulbs are only a minor defect, in my experience broken indicators/brake lights can contribute towards traffic crashes.
We handed out over 20 vouchers and had a great response from drivers that we spoke with and the majority were very happy to accept our offer of a voucher to assist them toward the cost of replacement bulbs.
