Queensland is one of the top selling states for motorcycle sales. Unfortunately, with the increase of motorcycles on our roads comes an increase in motorcycle theft. Their smaller size and weight easily facilitates them being physically picked up and loaded onto another vehicle and stolen.
Recently a number of motorcycles have been the target of thieves within the Inner West District and local police would like to remind owners and riders to be vigilant with their motorcycle security and recommended the following tips to protect their pride and joy:
Record the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and engine number, particularly if the motorcycle is unregistered or for off road/road racing;
Keep your keys on you or safely secured away at all times;
Use an ignition or steering lock;
Use a strong thick chain and quality padlock. Keep the chain off the ground, to make it harder to cut;
Secure your motorcycle to something solid that can’t be moved;
Affix
