Ferny Grove honour fallen comrade on 10 year anniversary

On Tuesday, July 18, a memorial service was held at the Ferny Grove Police Station to commemorated the 10th anniversary of the tragic loss in the line of duty of Constable Brett Andrew Irwin registered number 4020316 of the Ferny Grove Police Station.
At approximately at 10.50pm on July 18, 2007, Constable Brett Irwin and his shift partner attended a residential address in Keperra to execute an arrest warrant on an adult male who had failed to appear in court.
As Constable Irwin approached the rear door of the address, he was shot and fatally wounded by the man wanted on the warrant. Unknown to Constable Irwin or his partner, the wanted man and an acquaintance had robbed a motel in Kippa-Ring, at gunpoint about 7.20pm that same night in order to steal cash for drugs.
