On Sunday, July 2, local Chapel Hill residents converged on the two Green Hill Reservoirs in Chapel Hill to celebrate the unveiling of art work designed by local high school students and painted along the 830 metre wall of the reservoir.
The reservoirs are two of SEQ Water’s largest water storage facilities, and is very important in supplying bulk drinking water to parts of Brisbane and the Moreton Bay region.
The area surrounding the reservoirs is also popular for walkers, dog-owners, runners and bike riders who regularly see graffiti on the reservoir walls and report it. Graffiti has been a problem at Green Hill for many years but has increased over the past eight to ten months following the removal of trees planted around the reservoir walls to protect underground collection pits.
To help combat this and address further vandalism, it was decided to paint a mural around the 830 metre perimeter of
