Mt Zero on the mountains

Inner West Police continue to shout out loud about road safety with the Mt Zero campaign on the weekend at Mount Nebo, Mount Glorious and Mount Coot-tha.
I will admit that I am not a motorbike rider or owner, however I had in my earlier years been fortunate to ride a friend’s trail bike and it was one of the most terrifying hour of my life. In the first five minutes I broke the handbrake and should have stopped there but being young and wanting to continue with the adventure I persevered to my own detriment.
About 30 minutes had passed and we’re now at the back of the farm and it has started to rain or should I say it poured down. We continued on the waterlogged tracks with my limited experience and being a little over enthusiastic I’ve found myself on top of a large hill. Now let’s remind you that

Wear a police remembrance ribbon on September 29

On September 29 each year, members of the Queensland Police Service (QPS) and the community pause to remember the police officers, who have lost their life serving the public of Queensland. This date also recognises the unique nature of policing and the dangers that police face in their daily pursuits whilst serving and protecting their community.
To honour and remember those Queensland Police Officers who have paid the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and to support the Queensland Police Service, members of the public are encouraged to proudly wear a Police Remembrance Ribbon on Friday. These ribbons can be obtained from your local police station.
Additionally, police from the Inner West Patrol Group will be handing out police remembrance ribbons from a Mobile Police Community Office, which will be parked outside the Indooroopilly Shopping Centre on the corner of Station Road and Lantos Place, between 10am and 2pm on September

Is your trailer secure from theft?

Police from the Inner West Patrol Group are warning trailer owners to ensure their trailers are appropriately secured, as thieves are continuing to target and steal trailers within Inner West Suburbs.
The primarily targets of these thieves continue to be unsecured box trailers, which have either been parked on the street or parked on a property, where they are visible from the street.
The thieves are simply hooking the trailers up to their vehicle and driving off.
Police are urging trailer owners make it as hard as possible for these thieves to steal their trailers by securing the trailer with either; a hitch lock, wheel clamp, lock/chain, securing them behind a locked gate or simply placing them out of sight.

These simple security measures will ultimately detour, stop and make it harder for those who wish to target and steal your valuable property.
If you see any suspicious people or vehicles in your area

Police from the Inner West Patrol Group are warning residents to be to be vigilant in relation to the scamming actives of a middle aged, Caucasian woman, who has been reported asking for money under false pretences.
The woman is known to police and has recently been reported targeting members of the public (including Asian students from the University of Queensland) in the Indooroopilly and St Lucia areas.
Witness have reported the woman will often start crying in a public area, and when approached by a concerned member of the public, informs them that she has a very sick (or dying) relative in hospital, who is a long way away and she does not have the money to go visit.
The woman is a very convincing actor who has the ability to effectively play on the compassion and generosity of her intended victims.

LGBTI officers march proudly in uniform for third year running

Commissioner Ian Stewart will be on hand at today’s Brisbane Pride rally and march to wave off the Queensland Police contingent.
Around 30 officers and staff will proudly march in their uniforms for the third year in a row, after the Commissioner made the historic decision to allow it in 2015.
Deputy Commissioner Peter Martin and Assistant Commissioner Mike Condon will march with the QPS contingent.
Commissioner Stewart said QPS officers and staff marching at Pride in uniform was fast becoming an important tradition for the Service.
“The sight of serving Queensland police officers marching in uniform with their LGBTI colleagues, friends and the wider community sends a powerful message that the QPS is an organisation that values diversity,” Commissioner Stewart said.
“QPS participating in the march also reinforces our commitment to the LGBTI community to keep them safe.
“I hope that our continued involvement in events like Pride will build on the important work that
