Drug charges, Kenmore and North Ipswich
Detectives from the Synthetic Drug Operations Unit, State Crime Command have charged three men following the closure of Operation Oscar Cobble.
In November 2016 the operation commenced after the alleged importation of precursor chemicals used to produce Methylenedioxyamphetamine (MDA).
On October 3, 2017 police executed a series of search warrants in the Brisbane and North Ipswich areas resulting in the location of an active illicit drug laboratory, dangerous drugs and sufficient precursor chemicals to produce over 38kg of MDA worth an estimated street value of $8.7 million.
Detective Superintendent Jon Wacker of the Drug and Serious Crime Group, State Crime Command stated this was a well-established criminal syndicate with the capability and resources to produce commercial quantities of the dangerous drug MDA.
“Locating and shutting down such an extensive drug production syndicate will have a significant impact on the availability of MDA in Queensland”.
A 29-year-old North Ipswich man has been charged with a number

How secure is your bicycle from theft?
Police from the Inner West Patrol Group are warning the owners/users of bicycles that thieves are currently targeting bicycles in the Inner West suburbs.
The bicycles being targeted range from medium priced to high end racing and mountain bikes. Targeted locations have consisted of; open air carports, unlocked and open garages and bicycles affixed to bicycle racks on parked car (such as in shopping centres carparks).
In most case these thefts have occurred as a result of bicycles not being appropriately secured or locked away, which in turn, has made it so easy for the thieves to simply ride off with their bounty.
Police are recommending that bicycle owners/users use appropriate measures to secure their bicycles at all times, like:
Securing the bicycle with quality pad lock/chain,
Chaining it to a solid irremovable object,
Closing and locking garages/storage areas,
Placing a locking mechanism to a bike rack or simply removing the bicycle from the prying eyes of

How secure are your registration plates?
Police from the Inner West Patrol Group are warning residents of Inner West suburbs, that within the past week, thieves have been targeting vehicles and stealing registration plates.
Reports indicate that targeted vehicles were parked in locations such as; residential driveways, carparks and on the street, with the plates being stolen during the night and day.
Stolen registration plates are then often fitted to other vehicles, in an attempt to avoid detection during offence/s or used in offences, such as fuel drive offs etc.
It takes only a few seconds for thieves to unscrew your number plates, which are held on with conventional screws.
Police are encouraging the public to replace their standard number plate screws with special anti theft ‘one way’ security screws which cannot be removed with conventional tools once fitted. The fitment of these screws have proven to be a strong deterrent to thieves.
The ‘one way screws’ can be obtained free of charge by contacting your helpful Crime Prevention
Mt Zero on the mountains
Inner West Police continue to shout out loud about road safety with the Mt Zero campaign on the weekend at Mount Nebo, Mount Glorious and Mount Coot-tha.
I will admit that I am not a motorbike rider or owner, however I had in my earlier years been fortunate to ride a friend’s trail bike and it was one of the most terrifying hour of my life. In the first five minutes I broke the handbrake and should have stopped there but being young and wanting to continue with the adventure I persevered to my own detriment.
About 30 minutes had passed and we’re now at the back of the farm and it has started to rain or should I say it poured down. We continued on the waterlogged tracks with my limited experience and being a little over enthusiastic I’ve found myself on top of a large hill. Now let’s remind you that
