Inner West police support White Ribbon
As part of November’s White Ribbon activities, Inner West Patrol Group Domestic and Family Violence Liaison Officer Sergeant Roger O’Malia and Volunteer in Policing Glennys Berry recently helped with the Orange the World campaign at the Chermside Shopping Centre.
Orange the World is a 16-day global campaign of activism against gender violence between November 25 and December 10. The campaign raises awareness about violence against women and its impact on a woman’s physical, psychological, social and spiritual well-being.
“We wanted to hand out domestic violence pamphlets and brochures to every shop, both for staff and any customers who may be interested,” Sergeant O’Malia said.
“I was very pleased just how enthusiastic everyone was and how receptive they were to the information.”
White Ribbon Day is on November 25 and support the end of violence against women both in Australia and abroad.

Police visit Samford Joey Scout Mob
Yesterday police from the Inner West Patrol Group were invited to spend an awesome fun-filled afternoon with the Samford Joey Scout Mob.
The Joey Scouts, whose ages range from six to 7-years-old, form an integral part of the Samford Scout Group who are proud to be one of the largest and most successful Scout Groups in Queensland with over 100 members.
The principles and activities provided by Scouts play an important role in the social and physical development of young people. These include self-reliance, confidence, mutual trust and understanding, a sense of community and fun. Scouts provide a safe but challenging environment for young people to develop new skills, which helps develop them into healthy individuals.
The visit by police contributed to the development of these young and up-coming members of our community. During the visit the Joeys had the opportunity to learn about being a police officer, the role police play in
Box trailer theft alert
Police from the Inner West Patrol Group are warning trailer owners to ensure their box trailers are appropriately secured, as thieves are currently targeting and stealing box trailers in the Indooroopilly area.
The targeted box trailers, were not appropriately secured at the time and were parked on the street at the time of their theft.
It would appear that the thieves simply hooked the trailers up to their respective vehicle and drove off with their newly acquired bounty.
Police are urging trailer owners to make it as hard as possible for these thieves to steal their trailers by securing the trailer with either; a hitch lock, wheel clamp, lock/chain, securing them behind a locked gate or placing them out of sight.
