Appeal for witnesses, Upper Kedron

Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious traffic incident in Upper Kedron this afternoon.
Preliminary investigations indicate at around 5:25pm a man was travelling on a motorised scooter along Cedar Creek Road when he fell onto the roadway, striking his head.
Emergency services attended the scene and the 48-year-old man was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with critical head injuries.
Investigators are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam or vision to contact police.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Are your vehicle keys and number plates secure?

Keys are the means to take your vehicle. Protect your property by not making them easily available.
Police are advising Inner West suburb residents that in the past couple of weeks thieves have been breaking and entering residential houses with the sole intention of stealing motor vehicles.
As motor vehicle security technology has increased over the years, it has made it more difficult for thieves to simply break into and steal a vehicle by traditional means, such as ‘hot wiring’ it.
Subsequently thieves are now committing residential break and enters with the intention of directly targeting vehicle keys. Once a vehicle key is located, the offenders are offered unimpeded access to a vehicle and ability to easily drive off into the sunset with their newly and unlawfully acquired bounty.
Residents are encouraged to think about where they store vehicle keys and other personal property that is likely to be targeted by offenders. By simply

Have you lost money to a scam? Are you eligible for a refund?

The Financial and Cyber Crime Group is encouraging any Queenslander who may have been the victim of a scam or lost money through Western Union to take action by February 12.
Western Union has agreed to pay a penalty of US$586 million to the United States’ Department of Justice (DOJ) after admitting to aiding and abetting wire fraud. The DOJ is using this penalty to provide refunds to eligible people worldwide who were tricked into paying scammers via Western Union between 2004 to January 2017.

Please watch out, there are school children about

Police from the Inner West Patrol Group wish to remind all motorists that with the resumption of the school year, all school speed enforcement zones are now back in operation from today, Monday, January 22.
Motorists are further reminded that the gazetted speed limits in all school zones is 40km/h from 7am to 9am in the morning, and from 2pm to 4pm in the afternoon on school days.
Police will be actively policing and enforcing speed limits and traffic offences in school zones and ask motorists to be vigilant whilst approaching, travelling through and exiting school zones.
Inner West Police would also like to advise motorist that a new operational school zone has been established on Samford Road, Mitchelton, outside the Mitchelton State High School. A number of warning signs have been erected on the inbound and outbound approaches to the school on Samford Road, advising motorist of the establishment and operation of this new school zone.
