Get behind Mt Zero

Who will you leave behind?
Police from the Inner West Patrol Group will hold events for the Mt Zero campaign this weekend at Mt Coot-tha Lookout on Saturday morning to help spread road safety messages to road users that meet there.
Sunday morning, officers will attend the Mt Glorious Café between 9am and 11am with Department of Transport and Main Roads officers to help raise awareness of the dangers of the Mt Coot-tha, Mt Nebo and Mt Glorious roads.
Police will continue to remind all road users on the dangers of the mountain roads they are about to experience. The aim of the campaign is to reduce accidents and fatalities on these roads.
Police hope to speak with local residents, motorcycle riders, cyclists and drivers about sharing the road safely.
A big thanks to the local cafe owners for their continued support in this campaign.

Don’t be complacent about high rise apartment and vehicle security

Inner West Police would like to remind residents living in high rise residential buildings not to be complacent in believing that their respective dwellings are immune from break and enters, because of the isolation afforded by height.
Last year a number of ‘spiderman’ high rise burglaries occurred within in a number of inner west and south side suburbs.
The ‘spiderman’ offenders were easily able to externally climb up several stories or use a drain pipe to gain entry via either unsecured balcony windows or doors. In several occasions, the offenders used minimal force to remove the fly screens to gain entry. Once inside these offenders targeted items such as wallets, jewellery, car keys, laptops, iPads, phones and cash.

Also targeted were high rise residential apartment underground garages. The offenders gained access either through unsecured garage doors or by following a vehicle into the garage, once the door had been remotely opened. Once inside

Traffic incident, Brisbane

A man is currently assisting police with inquiries after he drove his vehicle at the entrance to Police Headquarters in Roma Street Brisbane.
It will be alleged that at 11.54pm a white Ford Territory has reversed at the main entrance to the building but has been unable to drive up the stairs. The vehicle then drove away.
Around midnight a member of the public observed a white Ford Territory side swipe another vehicle on the Captain Cook Bridge and contacted police.
Police attempted to intercept the vehicle as it headed south bound on the M1 at Tarragindi but the vehicle continued to travel south.
At Springwood the traffic slowed due to traffic congestion for roadworks. The Ford Territory rammed a police car and three other vehicles before coming to a stop. Police forced entry to the vehicle and arrested the driver.
A 47-year-old Capalaba man is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
