Lock it or Lose it checks Ferny Grove Division

The Inner West Patrol Group have commenced conducting pro-active community engagement and awareness operations within the Inner West Police District.
During the course of the last week, police from the Inner West Crime Prevention Unit conducted a ‘Lock it or Lose It’ inspection of over 500 vehicles parked at railway stations along The Ferny Grove rail corridor.
The railway station carparks inspected included Gaythorne, Mitchelton, Oxford Park and Keperra.
A majority of the vehicles inspected, were found to be secure.
However, a number of vehicles were found to be insecure:

Unlocked
Having valuable and attractive items fully visible.

The valuable and attractive items observed included; mobile phones, GPS, sunglasses, CDs, handbags, money, tools, sporting equipment and house keys/garage remotes.
The owners/drivers of these insecure vehicles were subsequently left with a friendly reminder (not an infringement), identifying their respective vehicle’s insecurity.
Additionally owners/drivers of vehicle’s found to be secure, were also left with note congratulating them on the awesome security of their respective vehicle.

Police make habitual consorting arrests

Taskforce Maxima officers and police from the Mt Isa District have made arrests as part of a major operation targeting criminal activity and habitual consorting under the new serious and organised crime legislation.
Operation Quebec Schedule was established by the Organised Crime Gangs Group in partnership with the Mount Isa Police District targeting the criminal activities of the Rebels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) in the state’s north west.
On the Saturday morning, officers from Taskforce Maxima, State Intelligence, Tactical Crime Squad, general duties officers, and Criminal Investigation Branch detectives arrested men in Mount Isa, Cloncurry and Rockhampton.
As a result of the operation, six people were detained including patched members of the Rebels Mount Isa chapter.
A 51-year-old man – a member and former president of the Rebels OMCG – was arrested following the execution of a search warrant on a West Street, Winston home this morning

Armed robbery charges, Everton Park

Police yesterday charged a 17-year-old boy with two armed robberies that occurred in Everton Park earlier this month.
It will be alleged on June 11 a teenager entered a South Pine Road bottle shop at 8.45pm and threatened the staff member with a knife demanding money. The boy took cash from the till before running from the store. The 25-year-old female staff member was not physically injured during the incident.
It will be further alleged on June 14 a teenager has entered a tobacco store on South Pine Road around 3.45pm and threatened a male staff member with a knife before running from the store with a sum of cash. The 42-year-old male staff member was not physically injured.
It will be further alleged that the boy had stolen alcohol from the Everton Park store on three occasions in May.
