Inner West police support Perrin Park Christmas event

On Saturday December 8, Police from the Inner West Patrol Group attended the Brisbane City Council’s ‘Movie in the Park’ Christmas event at Perrin Park Taringa to engage with the community and share some Christmas spirit.
The visit enabled younger members (and even some older members) of the community to positively and actively interact with police and become junior police officers for the evening.
As part of their visit, Inner West police were given the awesome job of announcing the arrival of Santa.
Police also used their visit to confirm with Santa, that all the attending children were on his ‘nice list’, and none of  them were on Santa’s ‘naughty list’.

QPS fixes banning notice error

The Queensland Police Service (QPS) has resolved a technical issue which impacted some banning notice information.
The QPS is responsible for the transfer of banned person data to the ID scanner network introduced for relevant premises in Safe Night Precincts.
Ongoing monitoring of data quality identified on November 8 that some banning orders had prematurely expired on a QPS system.
The issue has since been fixed and no further instances of premature expiry of banning notice data have occurred.
As of December 5 there are 857 active banning notices on the QPS system.
A QPS analysis has revealed that banned person information for 116 people had prematurely expired between September 29 and November 22.
Of those 116 people, two were detected within an SNP (not within licensed premises) for offences during the period in which they were banned.
The initial offences related to public nuisance and obstruct police in one instance and stealing in the other matter.

Hot weather conditions spark warnings!

As Queensland heads into a heat wave, Inner West Police are asking residents to be extra vigilant and keep an eye out for any suspicious activity in and around bush areas.
The current heatwave is responsible for fires continuing in other parts of Queensland and residents are asked to play their part in managing fire on their property by:

talking to your neighbours and the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) about reducing the risk of fire if your property shares boundaries with bushland
asking your neighbours and the QFES about working together as a group to reduce bushfire risk
preparing an evacuation plan for your family and pets

An irresponsible act, such as flicking a cigarette butt out of a car can have the potential to cause serious damage, particularly around dry bushland and reserves.
If residents see any activity that is irresponsible, looks suspicious or out of place, please contact Policelink to report the incident to

Inner West Police helping Brisbane stay safe and hydrated

On Friday November 30, officers from the Inner West Crime Prevention Unit conducted proactive crime prevention and community engagement patrols along the Brisbane River, from the Brisbane CBD to the University of Queensland St Lucia Campus.
The patrols were conducted utilising the Police Maverick All Train Vehicle (ATV).
The compact size of the Maverick, enabled police easy access and mobility along the Riverside Bike and Walking tracks.
The patrols allowed members of public and tourists to positively and personally interact with police and experience police equipment up close.
Police also used this opportunity to provide hydration to the public by dispensing cold ice water from the back of the Maverick.
This Crime Prevention initiative proved to be very popular not only in instilling public confidence in their personal safety, but assisting them in staying adequately hydrated, particularity with the current heat wave conditions.
