Shots fired, Wacol

Detectives are seeking assistance to identify two men who attempted to gain entry to a residence at Wacol overnight.
Just before 1am, two men approached the residence on Wilga Street and made a demand of the residents.
The two men have then entered the courtyard at the rear of the property and attempted to gain entry through the rear door.
The men were denied entry and fired a single shot into the door causing it to shatter.
The two residents, a 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, were not physically injured.
Investigators are appealing for anyone with further information or anyone in the area with CCTV footage of the pair to contact police.

Protest charges, Brisbane CBD

This week, police have arrested 125 people following protest activity within the Brisbane CBD, which includes 43 people who were arrested today.
The people, ranging in age from 16 to 75, will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on a range of charges including assault police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, obstruct police, wilful damage and contravene direction or requirement.
At around 10am, protesters lined themselves on the footpath either side of the William Jolly Bridge in Brisbane CBD.
Just before 10.15am, protesters have walked onto the road. Both lanes were closed to traffic immediately. About the same time, a car has driven through the police road diversion and onto the bridge.

Protest charges, Brisbane CBD

Police have arrested 35 people following protest activity in the Brisbane CBD today.
The people, ranging in age from 17 to 55, will appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on a range of charges including assault police, obstruct police and contravene direction or requirement.
At around 6:15am a vehicle towing a catamaran has stopped at the intersection of George Street and Elizabeth Street, blocking one lane of traffic.
12 protesters were locked onto the catamaran, which was full of concrete and other objects.
Police responded to the incident and directed the protesters to unlock themselves, however they failed to comply.
Once specialist police arrived they made the tactical decision to cut the catamaran from the vehicle before cutting each protester off. The vehicle was towed to a separate location.
At approximately 9:15am, all protesters were removed from the roadway and were taken into custody.

Safe street visit seminar, October 16

Inner West Brisbane Police are holding a Safe Street Visit at 408 Mount Glorious Road, Samford Valley on Wednesday, October 16.
The Safe Street Visits are part of the ‘Watch out for your street’ safety initiative, which is a combined Queensland Police Service (QPS) and Neighbourhood Watch (NHW) project that provides encouragement and education on how to enhance community safety and security.
Police are also encouraging members of the community to become involved in the NHW program at Samford Skies as a way of fighting and preventing crime in the local community.
Inner West Crime Prevention coordinator, Senior Constable Ricky Blanckensee said the program is an opportunity for everyone in the community to proactively work at keeping the community safe.
“We will be sharing safety and security information and hope that community members consider joining the NHW group, The Samford Skies Estate,” Senior Constable Blanckensee said.

Arson investigation, Karalee

Police are seeking public assistance as they investigate an arson that occurred at Karalee State School on Monday, October 7.
Emergency services were called to the address at approximately 7:00pm following reports of a building on fire.
A classroom received internal damage however nobody was injured as a result of the fire.
Investigators have released images and CCTV of a person who may be able to assist police with their inquiries.
Anyone with information or dash cam footage from Arthur Summersvilles Road on Monday October 7 is urged to contact police.

Protesters arrested, Brisbane

Six people have been charged following protest activity in the Brisbane CBD this morning.
Around 8.10am, police were advised of approximately twenty protesters chained to an obstacle in Creek Street.
Upon arrival, officers located four men and two women who had locked themselves to a metal barricade in the middle of the road.
Specialist police were called in to safely remove the protesters and they were transported to the Brisbane City Watchhouse.
A 51-year-old man from the Gap, an 18-year-old man from Newstead, a 29-year-old man from West End and a 23-year-old woman from St Lucia were arrested and charged with one count each of obstruct police officer and pedestrians cause an obstruction.
A 20-year-old man from Pelican Waters was arrested and charged with one count each of obstruct police officer, pedestrians cause an obstruction and wilful damage.
They are all due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court later today.

Shooting incident, Mt Gravatt

Police investigating a shooting incident which occurred in Mount Gravatt East on September 15 have released CCTV footage depicting a man.
Just after 9pm, a man approached a house on Gordon Parade and fired two shots into the front glass doors.
The man then fled the scene in a car which drove towards Crest Street.
He has been described as wearing a white hoodie, long pants, black shoes and gloves. His face was also covered.
Two occupants in the house, a 29-year-old woman and a 36-year-old man were not physically injured during the incident.
Anyone who may recognise the person depicted in the vision is urged to contact police.

Police prepare for Riverfire 2019

Police are busy preparing to ensure one of Brisbane’s biggest events, Riverfire, is safe and secure for everyone heading out to watch the fireworks spectacle.
Acting Chief Superintendent Tony Fleming, the Riverfire Commander, said around half a million people were expected to line the banks of Brisbane River for the celebration.
“We are well-versed in planning and preparing for major events, and Riverfire is no exception,” Acting Chief Superintendent Fleming said.
“We will have extra police on patrol throughout the city, South Bank, Kangaroo Point and other vantage points across Brisbane.
“I am urging everyone coming into the city tomorrow to allow extra travel time. Public transport will be your best option, remembering that major road and bridge closures will come into effect from Saturday afternoon.
“Riverfire spectators should also drink responsibly and only within designated areas.
“Everyone heading to Southbank should be aware that it will be fenced off and drinking alcohol there is not

Armed robbery, Calamvale

Police are seeking public assistance to identify a man involved in an armed robbery at a Calamvale hotel overnight.
Just before 9:25pm, a man entered the licensed premises on Compton Road and threatened a staff member with a knife.
The man stole a sum of money and fled on foot towards the vicinity of a fast food restaurant car park.
The man was described to be about 173cm tall, with a proportionate build, possible tattoo on his left lower arm, red hair, brown eyes, fair skin and had a foreign accent. He was wearing long black pants and long dark sleeve top and black gloves.
The 18-year-old male staff member was not physically injured.
Anyone with information that could help identify the men are urged to contact police.
