Brookfield Show 2019

Ready! Set! GO! Officers run in the Emergency Services cross country race

On Wednesday, October 9, Senior Constable Mel Fuller and Senior Constable Danni Boyle from Ferny Grove Police Station coordinated the 2019 Police and Emergency Services Games Cross Country event at Lake Samsonvale, Joyner.
The event attracted 22 competitors over a 5.12km and 8.44km course.

Police were kindly assisted by Volunteers in Policing (ViP) members with the coordination of the event on the day.
Ferny Grove’s very own Detective Col Carlsson took out the gold medal in the men’s 55 to 59 age category and Sergeant Darren Thomson took out the bronze in the men’s 45 to 49 age category.

Constable Jen Mulholland from Petrie won the gold in the women’s 40 to 49 age group and North Brisbane Tactician Senior Sergeant Robb Wann received the gold for the men’s 45 to 49 category.
It was a great day with perfect weather, competitive race times and good fun.

Police support the Gallipoli Army Barracks Open Day

On Saturday, October 12, police from the Inner West Patrol Group and North Brisbane Vulnerable Persons Unit (VPU) attended the Gallipoli Army Barracks Open Day (Explore the Barracks) to provide policing support.
The aim of the open day was to allow defence force family members and community members the opportunity to get up and close to army vehicles, equipment, weapons and helicopters.

The open days activities included, military demonstrations such as section attacks, dogs drills, drone flights and fitness challenges.
The Queensland Police Service (QPS) static display and presence at the event proved to be very popular amongst all ages.
The static police display attracted around 1,500 visitors and provided community members with crime prevention, personal and property security, domestic violence and QPS recruiting information.

Thieves target vehicles, Fig Tree Pocket

Police are warning vehicle owners that within the past 48 hours, thieves have targeted numerous vehicles in the following Fig Tree Pocket suburb streets:

Botticelli Street
Nearco Street
Mandalay Street

The targeted vehicles were broken into mainly during the night.
At the time of the offences, the vehicles were either parked in residential driveways or on the street.
A number of the targeted vehicles were unlocked at the time of the offence, which provided the offenders opportunistic and unimpeded access into the vehicle.
Police are urging vehicle owners to be vigilant, ensure their vehicles are always secure and not to openly display valuable items within their vehicles.
Lock it or loose it
There are several things you can do to reduce the risk of having your vehicle broken into:

Always lock your vehicle, including your glove box;
Remove valuable items;
Park your vehicle in a well lit area;
When parking in a garage or carport, ensure both the garage and your vehicle are

Endangering motorists, Kenmore

Police were called to a disturbance at Moggill Road, Kenmore this afternoon.
At about 4:50pm, police responded to reports of a man throwing rocks onto passing cars.
Witnesses stated they saw the man throw a large rock onto the traffic travelling outbound on Moggill Road.
Police are appealing for motorists who were driving in the area and may have received damage to their vehicle to contact police.
Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the area who may have dashcam vision to also contact police.
